Inverness Angling Club will launch an intensive recruitment drive this year as adult membership continued a five-year fall, from 233 in 2010 to 174 in 2014. To attract new senior members, the club will offer a substantial membership discount – from £150 to £100 – for anglers who have not been members of the club within the last five years. Application forms for new members can be downloaded from the Permits page of the club’s web site.

Visiting anglers will also get a special deal in 2015. Daily permits will fall by £10 to £25 a day in the peak season from June 1 to October 15. Permits for a full week will cost £125. Members from outside the immediate area of Inverness can join the club as an associate member, for a fee of £165.

The club will also be looking at creating an education and development programme for the record 140 young anglers of 17 and under who took advantage of free membership in 2014.
